Why does this happen?

So I finally decided to install my SSD inside my pc instead of using a sata to usb 3.0 connector and clone my hdd to my ssd for faster boot times using HD Clone 6. But a few minutes after booting onto my HDD my computer freezes, my mouse pointer moves but it highlights nothing it hovers over. So I did some investigating. I removed my SSD and booted up and everything went back to normal. But the Sata power connector coming from my PSU is unusual, forgive my drawing skills but this is what it looks like. As you can see, one sata power connector comes out of the first connector, so I was wondering if this splits the power usage and thus caused my pc to freeze? Any help.

No, this is a normal power cable.  SATA uses such little power, it canbe split multiple times without issue.

 

So you cloned your HDD to your SSD, but where is your HDD now?

I didn't clone my HDD yet, because it refuses to clone to a sata usb connected hard drive, which is why I wanted to connect it inside my case.  I still have my OS and data on my HDD, it wasn't formatted. But then why did it stop freezing the moment I removed my SSD connected to that split sata power connector, and booted up like normal with no freezing on my desktop?

 

I also checked and my psu doesn't seem to have any other power connectors, even though the specs say it has 4.

So just putting the SSD in your machine causes  issues?  Maybe  that's why it won't clone, as it's reading a broken drive or other data?  is that a new SSD?

 

Your PSU should have multiple SATA cables with 2 connections on each.

Its new dude, it picks up when I use usb 3.0 sata adapter, and it picks up as 100% health, I even moved my minecraft folder onto it and played minecraft for the day to test it and it works. There's nothing on the hard drive when I had it plugged into my pc with my HDD and then my desktop freezes. And when I plugged my SSD out my desktop no longer freezes. What else could be the problem?

 

I tried cloning with other software and it says something like you cant clone if its connected as a usb, unless I pay. I am using the free version ofo HD Clone 6. This is why I wanted to install it onto my motherboard using sata and power connectors. 

 

But... could this problem happen if its connected to a molex connector with an adapter, I didn't see nicely.

Try cloning it with Macrium Reflect.  No pay  issues with that one.

Yes, I have used it that way a couple times for laptops.

Will installing Windows fresh onto the SSD and then loading a system image of my HDD solve this problem I'm having? Then I can just use my SSD alone and keep HDD as backup.

Could this cause my desktop to freeze after installing another hard drive?

Probably, yes.  Clone the SSD first and see if you can boot from it properly.
