Hi All,

I have a rog flow x13 with the RX 6850 XT XG mobile. I noticed that when gaming i actually have low gpu clock speeds (around 300 - 700 MHz) but my gpu usage is high. Also my xg mobile is rated for 100W but only around 30W is used. Anyone know if this is normal and if not know anyways to fix it?

I'm no expert on these things, but are you gaming on battery or while plugged in?

I'm pretty sure gaming laptops have profiles setup for energy usage, with that probably being what's responsible for this. For Windows, I'd say check the power plans and see what you're using. For gaming it's best to have high performance as the power profile. If there's any utility tools for that laptop, I'd recommend checking them and seeing if there's any kind of profile or settings that are enabled that could be getting in the way. Also with the Radeon software it should be possible to check your settings and change them, with that possibly being the issue.

Generally speaking though, mobile versions of graphics cards aren't going to put out the same performance as desktop versions, even of the same card.

My guess is its not plugged in aswell , Gaming laptops are really only useful for going from socket to socket.

You can do some general pc stuff on battery but they are really not suited to gaming without being plugged into a power outlet.

Problem is alot of them are 230-330w machines and a typical battery in a laptop cannot safely run at that wattage and even if it could the battery would last about 15 minutes before being empty even the ones with maxxed out safe to travel 99.9Watt hour batteries.

Hi, I am using the XG Mobile egpu dock, which already provides power to the laptop while its plugged in. I realised that my gpu is now recognised as 35W instead of the 100W that it should be.

Try plugging the laptop into a power socket.
