Was fed up with my laptop overheating. I wanted check if opening the panel and getting some airflow will improve the temps. One thing I also wanted to try is to remove the CPU heatsink and gather the thermal paste around the die and put it on the die, as I don't have fresh thermal paste. So, I did that, and one more thing I did is that I moved the memory stick to a different slot (single stick). The stick was installed in a slot further away from the CPU and I moved it to the slot nearer to the CPU. But one thing I noticed that is the ram slot which was further away in which the stick was originally installed, it was labeled as "DDR slot 1", and other as the second. So, did I do wrong by installing the stick in the second channel? But after all it is nearer to the CPU, which will give 0.001% improvement, I know.

Opening the panel definitely improves temps. With the panel not even fully removed, I got max 85 C, and with the panel, I was thermal throttling. Still, it is not too bad, as entering the PL1 does bring temps down significantly. I don't think that tinkering with thermal paste did anything but maybe. I know, fresh thermal paste will increase performance. But still, I will take cooler temps any day, but I can't keep my bottom panel open. One thing I noticed that is the intake of the fresh air is actually above the keyboard, not the below side. Can I still do something to get more airflow?

Also, I just started hearing some "tik-tik" sound sometimes when I boot up. Probably another sound variation of coil whine?

Hiya. I came from your last post. Firstly, may I ask you if you use an ac in the room your laptop is in and/or the ambient air temperature?

Also, maybe you can get a laptop stand (with a fan optionally) that can raise your laptop to create more airflow. Also should help with your shrimp-like posture.

@Caveman0407 I have AC but not in my room. I do have a laptop stand, but I don't think that will improve cooling. The air intake looks like to be from the upside not bottom.

@Caveman0407 It's an HP laptop 14

I'm going to assume you have like 10cm of clearace at the back (just in case). I think you could try to switch to a lower power plan for a hit on performasnce. And/or, if your laptop's old (like 2-3 yrs old), I'd recommend getting re-pasted since thermal paste tends to get crusty after some time. Also, you can get some high quality thermal paste while at it (maybe liquid metal if you know what you're doing).
