In the beginning I had 2 routers:

  • a router which has the name aaa is in the living room and it's password is 123. aaa had a normal internet wire as input
  • a router which has the name bbb is in my bedroom. bbb is configured to be a range extender and it takes wifi from aaa and the password 123 has already been inputted for aaa and it's saved in bbb

aaa is the main router.

Our internet provider is crap so we changed to a new provider. The new provider gives internet through adsl so we had to buy a new router which takes a telephone wire as input. The new router needs to be given a name and a password. If the new router is given the name aaa and the password 123 then will bbb automatically detect wifi from the new router and I don't have to change anything in bbb and I can directly use wifi from bbb?

AS long as the range extender can connect with the same credentials and name it shouldn't have an issue.

Funny thing is this is kinda how rouge AP's happen

as long as the new router is named the same and has the same password your wifi extender should connect to it automatically

worst case scenario you have to reconnect it.
