Budget (including currency): $600 USD

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA 1080p High (No RT), Streaming, GameMaker Studio

I currently am working on a extremely budget build, and am wondering what should be changed. I am upgrading from an HP prebuilt that came with a Ryzen 5 5600G and RAM I upgraded (32GB). I will buy a used GPU to save money, and want RGB case fans (looks cool).

Sensible, especially if the case already comes with all 4 fans, even RGB ones.

My main concern is do you really need a new motherboard? What's the problem with the one your CPU is in right now? Is it case unique and some problems with the case?

I'd just stick with the prebuilt you already have and invest the money into other things. $200+ spend on non horsepower parts. 1/3rd of your budget that won't impact your performance really.

I need the new motherboard due to the current one being an OEM size, and needing a specific PSU. The PSU itself is only 350W, and I cannot find a replacement.

unless you need the onboard GPU on the 5600G, don't get it.

the 5600 or 5600X are both much better chips.  A bunch more Cache, and PCIE Gen 4.  (The 5000G chips are limited to Gen3, and have limited cache)

I already own a 5600G, due to owning a prebuilt that came with one.

I really hate chemistry.

There's gotta be. Link us everything, from make, model to parts it's using. Maybe even give us pictures.

It is a HP Victus 15L, with a 5600G, RX 6400, 512GB storage, 8GB RAM, and a 350 PSU.

+$50 for double RAM. Can get another 1TB SSD for another $50. Now at $586.

Would need another look at cooler, some bigger fan replacements must exist, same for PSU's. Bigger OEM models have to exist. Still a standart after all, just not a mass consumer one. 300W technically should be enough but is tight, I get why you might be uncomfortable.

Though now I do wonder if motherboard supports others CPU's. Don't see why not but gotta check everything.

Ain't now way did the smoothbrains combo smear you with an APU CPU and a GPU. A GPU that needs PCIE 4.0 ffs cause it's already cut down on lanes... God, all the downsides with no benefit. HP keeps getting worse and worse.

Hey, I got it for $350 from Walmart,so... a win, I guess? I almost spent more on peripherals than on the PC itself.

Price is irrelevant. Even if you got it for free it wouldn't turn the prebuilt into a good configuration. Good that you didn't pay a ton for it though.
