Posted September 13, 2023 Your best bet is likely a used R5 5600, B450 board, and 32GB of DDR4. That should be somewhere around the $200-300 range depending on how good a deal you can find. Posted September 13, 2023 Author No cheap options to stay with ddr3? I upgraded a optiplex thinking I would be cheap to find a mobo and cpu.. No DDR3 gear is worth buying nowadays. The absolute best you can get is X79, and the performance of that is terrible in comparison to a 5600, especially since it would cost considerably more because older boards are more expensive. In that case you will need a new PSU and case as well if they are still og Dell parts. maybe try to find a PC without a GPU on the used market, i think it might still be possible to find a PC without a gpu with a 5600 or maybe a 10400/11400, at least 16 GB of DDR4, a fitting mainboard, at least a 500W PSU and all of that in a case Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1531177-upgrade/#findComment-16135058 Share on other sites
 Posted September 13, 2023 this might be an option for example, althoug its ab bit over your budget, but comes with a GPU that you could sell so get down to under 300$ https://www.ebay.com/itm/266374095585?hash=item3e052222e1:g:9~MAAOSwaKtk25MP&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4PgTXZ%2Fr%2Fj%2Fw9xQK%2BkjUazjL9ooHkEdZv85R%2BQgpXbXozHF65%2By0OMel8Fg5qgKRp0S8pLqqdRJaKFffKJB0G6UJysii4ATlWKvxpEC2R9XQIrZ1dRSF4CwUp0L%2B7fdsJZqGDfci%2BM6Mw6It8OiQd8%2FwOeOtstmEiBtLGBwaTpGRR19n70b6dJyA3HgHZBNUnYiQodb0oGop4oeJiuWlkXmBTq7cTFvKgCXMJOuV9z4lES0vfJeuRoZsoyNJWaUHomk6Ys%2BMgbpNTr7cBQZdWzCHh3XmuHGJyALelfy%2B0Mqp|tkp%3ABFBM-unUz9Fi Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1531177-upgrade/#findComment-16135063 Share on other sites
 Posted September 13, 2023 Or if you feel lik upgrading a prebuild again you could go for something like this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/404488242221?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D253785%26meid%3Dc54e73d2a0574eeeb5ee12aac5634e42%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D256202086305%26itm%3D404488242221%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D4429486%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithLambda85KnnRecallV1V4ItemNrtInQueryAndCassiniVisualRankerAndBertRecall%26brand%3DHP&_trksid=p4429486.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A404488242221c54e73d2a0574eeeb5ee12aac5634e42|enc%3AAQAIAAABQNaJCFP3eaFlNU%2FMPxRY0TCMczVKEUB5MsBytoCwPnd71M08lfrVO4PuTCchnU42KC4W4fZqxBROE%2BM7tSL%2BgZgL1kWiIUBRsEpydVTA61DhOJDUizwNgM7HKYQEqSaBlA0cgtRhk014V8aEpVfh3hnhnd%2F7IgeABwy13oQFkjPGzsg8SJQOrILiwccrHsDs59X3uRvRPUF7TWCi8QDhhB8zP%2FOgyTq5ZukxHO0SWExPR6h8aqyrPIydEkLqxAizn3byl2Bay1lTPGKSEceoxG6t8hZdmjeMiWJY90aRfvkltt%2B49lODCoMgy603%2BshGZNUp2tojgfG1Vdtl1bdgxG7gQnHUGSQOoIijNYh6v5ecTO3rGdQPOQ13oNxMWKRayALfbmBgZ%2B2tjdjr%2FC8mUtOuaUix3euvwOaPamYo%2FUl1|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A4429486 it should come with a 400W PSU that has one 6+2-Pin PCIe Power connector which should work with your 1660 super, but i would recommend going for "non-prebuild" parts going to make upgrading way easier in the future Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1531177-upgrade/#findComment-16135071 Share on other sites
