So at the moment I am saving up for a huge upgrade to my pc, going from a 1660 super to a 4060 TI however my main concern is my CPU, I don't reeeally want to spend £300 plus on a cpu and then another couple hundred on a compatible motherboard, at first I was thinking the ryzen 5 5600X but I wasn't sure how bad that would be, its a strong cpu but is it strong enough? I do want the get the most out of my pc and money so I need a little help, If you also have any other affordable cpu/motherboard compatibilities that'll work work with the 4060 TI, let me know

What is your choice of the 4060Ti based on?  I ask because reviews have been horrible, so what makes you want it?

Look at the LTT "New build" template, to detail what you have and what you want to achieve

4060Ti is bad, especially now as the 7700XT/7800XT just launches

5600X will be ok for a couple years especially at 1440p+

I would recommend jumping into Intel 13th generation or Ryzen 7000 series versus buying a Ryzen 5000 series CPU in 2023.

4060ti is quite a terrible value and you're either better off buying last generation RX 6000 or RTX 3000, or looking at the 7700 XT/ 7800 XT instead (released today).

Yes, whatever platform you have that isn't Ryzen 5000,7000 or Intel 12th/13th gen will limit practically any new GPU, if that's because of PCIe 4.0 or simply the lack of single threaded performance. It's even likely that whatever CPU you have right now is limiting that GTX 1660 Super, where a better CPU could easily net 10-25% increase in framerate even with the 1660 Super.

Really I like graphics so a want a powerful card to play games on highest graphics if possible with 80-90 fps min or so

Okay thank you, ill look at some of the new gpus, I'm still a beginner with components, just thought thr 4060 would be ideal cuz its new and cheap

That's what Nvidia wants you to think, unfortunately.

New and cheap don't equate in any way to performance.

Compare some benchmarks and reviews of all the cards in that price range.  Then make your decision.

the 5600 cpu is more than enough. As for the gpu, people pay a lot more for much pretier garbagier garbage. I accept your sexual orientation.
