No really... are order numbers sequential (more or less)?

I'm just wondering because my recent six-digit order number starts with 69, and I'm wondering if everyone else's does too?

Cause if that's true, they should have had a sale or something to commemorate the occasion.

Everybody else on board with this idea?

As far as I have seen from the backpack and screwdriver launch. Yes the store order numbers are sequential.

Some companies encode additional information into their order number, or add checksum digits so there's fewer typo problems.

Also to obscure potentially useful order volume data their competitors would like to know, also just security so people can't guess order numbers etc.

Luke clarified it on WAN show that order numbers were initially sequential but no longer.

I think that WAN episode is probably nearing 2 years old at this point.
