Budget (including currency): 1.500€

Country: Portugal

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming, also used for software development and some occasional photo/video editing.

Other details: The idea for this setup is to be able to play AAA games in 4K using a Ultrawide + Vertical Monitor setup. Since I'll be buying everything (except the GPU since I'm able to use either a 2060 Super or a 2080 Super borrowed from a friend which gives me the chance to invest in other components) I have to build this setup in phases due to the money investment needed. The phases are going to be as follow:

Phase 1: Build the PC while keeping in mind that the whole setup (except the borrowed GPU) should still be relevant in a year or two which is when the 4K ready GPU is going to be bought, until then I will be gaming using either a 2060 Super or a 2080 Super accompanied by a dual 1080p monitor setup.

Phase 2: Buy the 4K ready GPU.

Phase 3: Buy the Ultrawide Monitor (the Vertical Monitor can be bought at a later point in time).

Phase 2 and Phase 3 should happen relatively close to each other but if that is not possible I'll be aiming for a GPU first and only then will I try and buy a Ultrawide Monitor because I think having the GPU first is ideal otherwise having a Ultrawide Monitor using the borrowed GPU is going to bottleneck the whole rig.

I'm aiming to game in 4k but I'm still unsure which frame rate I should be aiming for. Most definitely 60Hz but, is 144Hz worth the investment?

Another thing that also led me to share this was the fact that I'm still torn between the X670 and X670E chipset motherboards due to the PCIe 5.0 lanes. Is the extra PCIe 5.0 lanes of the X670E Motherboards worth the extra cost? We are talking about an extra cost of around 200€ which would go overbudget but if its worth, I might consider it.

Disclaimer: The Samsung SSD is meant to be used as the main SSD while the Western Digital SSD is meant to be used mainly for gaming related stuff.

In any case, given my use-case, what do you guys think of this components list: https://pt.pcpartpicker.com/user/Kayonne/saved/DsPW99

The total cost of the whole setup (without GPU) as of right now is: 1.507,01€.

Kind regards,

Kayonne.

Hello... I am going to look over you Build List and see what I can do.

First and Foremost... I must say that 8GB of VRAM is NOT Enough for 4K Gaming anymore. You will need at the very least 16GB of VRAM. The 2060 Super and 2080 Super now are just perfect for 1080p. I wouldn't even use them for 1440p.

I have been building PCs for over 30 years so if you have any questions please ask. For Future Communication I use Discord for much Faster Response Times as I have it open 24/7. I am also available if you need help before, during, or after the Build Process on Discord through Text,Voice, or Video Chat. I can be with you while you build your new PC if you need me to be. Hi, thanks for your reply and also for looking at my build list!

The GPU you're seeing on the list is the borrowed GPU that is going to be used until I can replaced it in 1 year or 2 years max! Until I buy a GPU that can handle 4K gaming, I will be using a dual 1080p monitor setup so keep that in mind when analyzing my list.

OK... That is really good. Here is the Build List I promised. I made a few changes for the better and it's still under your budget. As for a GPU when you have the money, I would go for the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB or 7900 XTX 24GB. For 4K Gaming they are fantastic and loads cheaper than an RTX GPU.

I went with an MSI Theme. It didn't cost any more than different parts so why not.

I also found you a much better and cheaper PC Case, this the best Case of the year. The Montech Air 903 Base comes with 3 140mm Fans, 2 in Front and 1 in the Rear for superb Airflow. The 360mm AIO can go in the Top of the Case and I think it is the best placement for it, not the Front. The 2 140mm Fans in the Front will pull massive amounts of Air in and the AIO on top can exhaust the Air.

Future-proofing doesn't exist when comes to computers. Sandy Bridge and 1080 Ti were anomalies.

You can buy 4090 and AM5 but it might get obsolete pretty quick, that is the problem you never know.

+1. Always set a 5-10 year as a lifespan goal and you wont be disappointed, Future Proofing isnt really a thing anymore, we are back to the rapid progress and demand like in the early 2000s.
