So, I think you need to start from scratch again with it.

Make sure you have a Windows 10/11 bootable USB drive as your install media.

Make sure the only drive connected to your system is the Xraydisk and its being correctly detected in the BIOS (which it is)

Boot from the usb and run through the Windows installation process and make sure you DONT select any repair option. Delete all existing partitions on the way and do a fresh install.

hello everyone,

how can i check a ssd of how much storage it has?

it says that it has 512gb and i downloaded windows 10 on it then it was 476gb.

but when i downloaded some files on it my windows files were corrupted and my ssd doesnt do anything anymore.

Hi buddy,

Firstly, did you buy the SSD from a reputable source and is it a known brand? Corsair, Sandisk, Samsung..... I've purchased dodgy solid state disks from Amazon only to find the firmware was hacked to show it as far more capacity than it actually was. It would say 512Gb but after writing a few larger files, it would start to write over what was already there.

Are you using the SSD as additional storage or are you wanting to use it as a boot disk?

What do you mean by ' ssd doesnt do anything anymore.'

The SSD is not from a big brand but i did buy 1 earlier from this brand and works good. this is also a boot drive. 128gb from Xraydisk.

i want to use this disk as a bootdrive thats why windows was installed on it. 😄

SSD doesnt do anything anymore was that it was not showing that there was not a booting device anymore.

i plugged a windows 10 usb stick in the pc and try to repair it and it was not repaireble with the windows usb stick.

sorry for my bad english im from the netherlands.

it shows in the bios that it is a Xraydisk 512GB and also in disk management but it is not bootible anymore and cant be repaired from a windows boot drive.

is there maybe a software that can check every byte on a disk? so that i can check that it is not writing over other files?

and what happend to it that it became unuseble/not bootible

you can try using h2testw to verify the capacity of the drive. The 476gb your seeing in windows is normal though, as windows uses gibibytes instead of gigabytes. There is some other programs to check the health of the drive as well, such as cristaldiskinfo, victoria, hd tune, etc. As for the windows install on it, if there was nothing important on it, i would recommend just deleting the partitions on the drive, and reinstalling windows.

Well at least its showing where it should be.

In Windows Disk Management, does it show any existing partitions or is just 1 single unpartitioned space.

If there are existing partitions, what happens when you delete them then try and format the drive?
