Hello

My current pc is running with this specs : Asus Prime B450M-A with a Ryzen 5 3600 , 16GB DDR4 3600MHZ and the GPU was upgraded last year to RX6800XT

I want to upgrade the CPU to 5800X3D and to add to it 16GB of ram .

a computer store told me that my motherborad will not be able to give me the full power of the cpu and that i should replace the motherborad as well

i do like to keep my pc as stock and no overclocking the parts

how much power of the cpu i will lose or can i but the 5800x3d and have no worries ?

Not much difference at all. It wont be noticable

They just wants to sell more products then just a CPU

Just make sure you upgrade the bios before you install the new cpu.

The tech talked sense honestly. The Prime board mostly power throttle pretty hard on high TDP board but they're not unfixable. They just lack the cooling, putting small 80/92 fans on the VRM/MOSFET array is a good idea alongside undervolt. Its just looks ugly, that's why people would recommend 5600 which would bottleneck any card faster than 6800XT in 1440p or lower resolution, or replacing the board which at that point id consider upgrading to LGA1700 that are still DDR4 compatible but faster than most of AM4 line.
