LTT TV ON FLOATPLANE?

Are there any plans to bring LTT TV to floatplane or is it just on youtube?

I believe it’s a YouTube thing.
From what I gathered from WAN today, they are participating in a beta program with YouTube where their channel is acting like a traditional TV channel where programs/content just plays one after another and you just tune into a channel.

It could come to floatplane at some point but I think it’s unlikely IMO

Maybe if this takes off, they can use a "real master control system" like Softron or just:play as the playlist. That would give them some useful [Pinocchio voice] "real TV channel" features:

- On-air branding, like a graphic bug in the bottom corner of the screen

- Slates or lower thirds for announcements, (popping something up when a new video goes live on the channel, for example)

- Ad insertion that isn't baked into existing content, like sponsor spots and "check out this cool thing on lttstore.com" plugs filmed on the greenscreen

- The ability to preempt ("break into") the evergreen content with a live stream or something like WAN Show. (The idea isn't to replace them "airing" on the main channel, but to simulcast so they get even more attention.)

Of course that would mean buying software to run locally. It's not the cheapest, but it's less expensive than a full-fat traffic and master control system like Grass Valley Morpheus. These kind of solutions are already used for OTT TV channels and small market broadcast TV stations.

I haven't watched the WAN Show segment about LTT TV yet, so I'm not sure if it's basically a playlist that's playing back on YouTube's side.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

They get money just from people watching that livestream(especially Youtube Premium subs) and it cost them nothing.

No way they will put that on floatplane, as it will cost them more due to people putting the stream on and leaving. Resulting in bandwidth usage cost higher than the subscription cost by some users.

What I strange concept, I left live TV specifically because being able to choose what I want to watch is better.  Why are we going backwards?

I don't see how its economical given advertisers only pay if they think people are watching, and something like that is far more likely to be left on in the background so not advertiser friendly.

A lot of people are lazy and don't actually choose. Then the algorithm takes over, and you get a bubble of lazy comfort zone content.

Well curated streams have their place. But then of course they do need to be well curated, and not just random.

Therein lies the problem, as its all left to algorithms.

Such as my Instagram that is full of cat videos, despite the fact I never actively looked for a cat video, just a few popped up and I didn't swipe off them quick enough which just feeds a cycle of feeding you content you aren't looking for which you as there is so much it registers views and gives me even more.

I miss the days of social media where it only showed me what I actually subscribed to.   Glad I don't rely on YouTube notifications either, just browsing my subscribed feed seems to work, I hear a lot of people even that is borked.

Netflix does a half decent content of feeding me content I want, though not as good as when you had a proper rating system instead of this thumbs up/down stupidity that prevents any weighting to your preferences.
