Wireless thermometer for Raspberry Pi

Hello,

 

I'm working on home automation project for school and I would like to make a wireless thermometer that sends data to Rpi. Does anybody have experience with this sort of stuff. I would like to have some tips about building this. I don't have much money so cheaper is better.
