Posted June 19, 2023 Wondering why new cases that are vented on the front all choose to pull air in, rather than push hot air out? Where intake fans outnumber exhaust fans. Wouldn't removing hot air from the box be a higher priority than mixing it inside with air coming in? Negative pressure vs positive pressure inside? Did anyone experiment with a front exhaust and rear intake (possibly no rear fan but just a grill)? (Please no suggestive humor ) This post has been ninja-edited while you weren't looking. It would pull unfiltered air and dust, but don't see that as an immediate concern. 7 minutes ago, filpo said: rgb fans it'll both look worse I literally cut fan LEDs off if I can't turn them off. Are you using an aio or an air cooler? I would put the exhaust as intake. Turn the top two fans as intake and turn the air cooler around as exhaust to front Alternatively, a reason for doing positive pressure to the left is just cuz thats how pc cases are laid out and that's just been the standard Message me on discord (bread8669) for more help Quote me if you want me to get notified Current parts list: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor (Purchased For £175.00) CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler (Purchased For £0.00) Motherboard: MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard (Purchased For £144.99) Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory (Purchased For £89.99) Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (Purchased For £0.00) Storage: Kingston A400 960 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (Purchased For £0.00) Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB Video Card (Purchased For £448.99) Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 205M MESH MicroATX Mini Tower Case (Purchased For £82.98) Power Supply: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For £99.00) Total: £1040.95 Damn this space can fit a 5090 (just kidding, it needs more) Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1514164-intake-vs-exhaust/#findComment-15994146 Share on other sites
 I use an air cooler and would flip the fans around to the other side of the radiator so it would blow toward the exhaust at the front. Back in the day PC cases didn't have fans on the front, just exhaust fans on the back. I'm thinking they likewise were focused on removing hot air, rather than forcing it in. (MJ) ;) I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give. My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong. Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1514164-intake-vs-exhaust/#findComment-15994357 Share on other sites
