Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mostly kdenlive/davinci and old school runescape

Other details upgrading from a pc with an i3 10100, gtx 750ti and 32gb ram as it chugs hard with anything above 1080p, planning to have a gtx 1080ti and 64gb ddr4 2400 ecc. storage is no issue i have a bigass server

 

trying to find an exact cpu compatibility list of the thinkstation p520 so i dont get fucked over later.

on lenovos website they say it supports all xeon scalable processors but on some ebay listings especially ES processors it says they only support supermicro boards. (see https://www.ebay.com/itm/183868657200)

not sure if that supermicro only board carries over to regular chips.

 

so far im wanting at least 16 cores because it seems like a good number but am willing to go higher or lower but id prefer to not upgrade for a long time not in the name of futureproofing but in the name of being a lazy fuck.
