What does total bytes written mean?

Go to solution Solved by alpenwasser,

Lifespan of SSDs due to read/writes isn't really something to worry about

under most normal usage scenarios.

This guy did a test on a Samsung SSD. Took 3 petabytes of writes until

it was dead. It might not be the same SSD as you have, but it should give

you some idea of what kind of numbers one can encounter in this area.

I'm looking at my SSD's data sheet:

http://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/hyperx

And it says total bytes written, I'm assuming that's the number of writes before it fails? If so should I be worried about my read and writes:

Lifetime reads: 4.825 TB

Lifetime writes: 6.785 TB

CPU: Intel 3570 GPUs: Nvidia GTX 660Ti Case: Fractal design Define R4  Storage: 1TB WD Caviar Black & 240GB Hyper X 3k SSD Sound: Custom One Pros Keyboard: Ducky Shine 4 Mouse: Logitech G500

no, it means that in the life of your SSD youve written 6.785 terrabytes to your SSD,

the same goes for the reads

That's what is said in the SSD data sheet.
