Hey,

Right now im using a Logitech Pro X Wireless Headset but I want to switch to headphones+mic. I think I´m going with Sennheiser 560S headphones, but I´m not sure what Mic would be the best fit. Are these small attachable microphones ok to use for Discord etc or should I buy a big microphone? If yes, is it ok to use USB microphones or should I invest more and get some XLRs?

Welcome to the forums!

The best addon headset mic is the modmic.

They are pretty dope.

If you want to upgrade to XLR, I have a great starter kit that the boys over at Sweetwater helped spec out for me. I use the AudioTechnica AT2040 hypercardiod mic (100$) because it picks up ~0 side noise (my SO games right behind me) mounted on a Rode PS1 stand (100$) plugged into a UPhoria UM204HD interface (80$). I have this deployed on three computers and it's pretty great once you dial it in.

All that being said, I am no audiophile and I know very little about the gear.

Thank you!
Would you say that it’s worth spending the ~150-200$ extra, going from the modmic to XLR? I think I could use the interface to power the headphones aswell?

The interface should be able to drive the cans, but they don't have a dedicated amp so YMMV.

As for if it's worth flipping to XLR? Well, it's ~always gonna have better audio quality, and it's an interesting journey figuring it all out (seriously, the peeps at Sweetwater fall all over themselves to help you, it's a bit nuts. Hit up one of their reps and they'll help you pick the perfect mic, I actually downgraded from a Shure SM-7B) if you're into that sort of thing. But dealing with a boom mic can be a hassle. If you move around a lot they are far less than ideal and you do need to figure out logistics of cables and mount and everything.
Overall I was so happy with it on my primary rig that I got one for my SO and one for my office/guest LAN setup (puts a bit of a strain on the USB2.0 monoprice KVM, but it *works*). I adore it, my SO prefers it to the Arctis 7 set up, but largely for the exclusion of room noise (i.e. me).
The ultimate question is: do you have the dosh to spend comfortably (never stretch your wallet exploring new stuff) and are you willing to deal with the hassle of returning/flipping it if you end up not liking it?

Okey I think I´m going for XLR, your argument that it´s a journey to set up actually sounds very nice 😄
Sweetwater doesn´t seem to be an option, I think they only deliver in the US but I´m in Europe 😞

Right now I´m not sure if I buy the AT2040 or the MXL V67G, but probably I´ll pair it with the U-Phoria UM2.

That´s probably a stupid question now, but if i connect the audiointerface to my computer and the headphones to the interface, will the USB connection to also provide the computersound? Or do I have to get an audiointerface with two inputs, so I can connect my computer via the second input?
