Hi!!!

I have been looking for a DP(f) to HMDI(m). For a few years now i am coming across situations where i cant use display's or any other device because of ports. I want to create a kit that allows me to connect to any device no matter the port. The problem i have is that i can't seem to find any good adapters for DP(f) to HMDI(m). Can anyone recommend some? it would really help!

Thank in advance! have a nice day :)

Hi buddy, you're in for a bit of misery I'm afraid.

DP to HDMI and visa versa isn't straightforward especially if you use some of the more modern features like VRR (G / Freesync) or HDR or even worse a combo of both.

I've even had issues with DP > HDMI cables transmitting video but garbled audio.

Personally, I think its a bit of shame the GPUs only have a single HDMI port and the rest DP.

My solution was to whack in a GT1030 to spare PCI slot that gained me an additional HDMI port but for some that's not really a solution.

Can you elaborate on what you want to connect? PC / AVR / TV / Monitor / Console........ Also, what features are you wanting i.e. HDR, VRR, ALLM......

As I'm a bit of a home cinema enthusiast, I've got a fair amount of experience with multiple devices, cables and connections and not too janky!

I do have a mini DP to HDMI 2.0 adapter that seemed to work fine (I had a 2 slot card that used mini DP but also have an adapter to plug it into full size), but HDMI 2.1 is needed for the stuff you listed so yeah, more of a pain.

I think there should be a minimum of 2x HDMI personally, if nothing else in case one of the ports breaks.  Also HDMI is useful as optical HDMI cables are much more common and cheap, optical DP are rare and expensive, as I wanted one as the thick cable I'm using causes a black screen when I move my monitor from the stress on the port.

Hi! Thanks for your response.

Sorry for my late response. I want it because I want to be able to connect all kinds of displays, so monitors, TV's or beamers, to my phone or laptop.

I was beginning to think that it's going to be hard. I don't know if it's lucky or not but I don't want to use it for my top tier stuff, it's for when I want to work with a extra monitor ans there is one, or I want to watch something on a bigger screen. So u want to be able to use it but have decent quality that isn't too distracting.

I hope I elaborated enough!

Have a fantastic day :)!

Hi, that kinda sucks :/. I I'll have to look into it. Can you still give me the adapter you use?

Have a great day! :))

I don't know where it is, but I am seeing a few DisplayPort to HDMI 2.1 adapters on Amazon, could you try one of those?
