Can someone help me with a low cost storage set up. I want a storage set that has two drives that has one drive that get backed up by the other, that connects to my laptop via usb. I would like to spend around 50 USD and have at least 500 gb. If there is a better way to set this up feel free to let me know.

I can't think of a genuinely good way to do this for your budget, especially if that $50 includes drives.

Get a USB SATA dock and a couple of SATA hard drives. (You can afford 500 gig SSDs, but spinning drives give you more capacity for the money.) That way you can have one online backup drive, and the other can be an offline backup. If you get hit by ransomware or hardware failure, you'll have a clean backup on the shelf. Alternate which drive is in which role every month or so, to give both drives exercise and keep them aging more or less the same.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
