Zen 4 is gonna be a lot better approach to take for absolute top fps, and using an AAMD CPU with an AMD GPU is kinda nice for system control, but it's not that big of a deal.

Do you play a lot of other games or want more space?  If not, you could save a little going with a smaller SSD, or get an SSD with a DRAM cache but it won't make real difference.

OK, you can swap in the 7700 but it won't make any real difference in gaming.  That AiO can go on that side panels (2x140), and the top will exhaust passively.  You can just add fans, didn't think it mattered much.

 

What is the resolution and refresh rate on your monitor?

Games become more cpu dependent at 1080P.  Use the 120mm Arctic fan down below as a rear exhaust fan for that case.

Its not true 16 core. Refer to the initial announcement breakdown done by LTT on the 1st gen LGA1700 platform CPU, Alder Lake. If you open up ARK (Intel specification database and driver repository), youll see that its a 8 cores and 16 threads P-core CPU, with 8 E-core CPU.

 

 

+1 on @Queen Chrysalis original 7600 build, but id definitely wait on whether 7800XT is going to be out at this year's Computex if youre not in a rush.

30ish fps is actually a huge diff for just the cpu alone. And a 7600 is a 50fps diff.

btw here's the locked 12 gen i7 vs the unlocked 12 gen i7. The difference is a whopping one frame per second on average and I doubt it's any different with the 13 gen i7's.  Now let's see your build with that $200 case, 13700K and Z790 board.

The Z690 board is fine if you plan on going with DDR4 but the Z690 DDR5 memory controller sucks vs the Z790 chipset. Now show us that build.

You don't need a 16 core cpu for gaming. Even a 6 core would be nice. If your playing in 1080p why would you get a 6800xt? A 6750xt would be good enough.
