WHEA_Uncorrectable_Error and Clock_Watchdog_Timeout

Specs:

 i5 11400

Aorus Z590 Master

2x8 Corsair 3000mhz Vengeance RGB Pro

WVGA GTX 970

EVGA 600w PSU

also to note the BSODs only happen when XMP is enabled.

So to begin the motherboard is on its latest BIOS version and I tried both windows 10 and 11. I've tried reseating the CPU, GPU, RAM and NVME drive I also swapped out the drive for a sata one too with no avail. I've also tried different RAM slots and trying one stick at a time. I also looked up some guides and it made me turn off C-States which didn't effect anything. I'm thinking it's the CPU but I don't have another one laying around to test at this point I'm not really sure what I can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, The problem there is, not all mother boards properly support XMP profile speeds even if the RAM itself does. They don't like certain combinations of RAM and CPU. You end up with random faults or blue screens. So you'd be better having a stable system with XMP off.

Bit of a tech guy, converted to PC's when consoles did not entertain me enough, the last console being an Xbox, was fun with Halo multi-play though. But  the want to discover, to test, to learn more about computers drove me to levels I had never known...

Some GPU's I have had, 8800GTS 384MB, 7800GT, GEFORCE 4 MX440, 250GTS,  770 GTX, 1650 GTX, RTX 3050 Plus many other GPU's over the years...

The respect I have for LMG is massive like a black hole, sucking in all the knowledge, I watch their awesome video's, their knowledge is like that of a God. Seriously some say they are number 1 in the whole wide world. LMG is like the INTEL fabrication plant. Beaming with technology goodness...

Ah well at least it isn't anything to problematic I was really worried that I might've had a dead CPU or RAM Sticks

Aww well if it's running solid then you can rejoice and be happy! 🙂 It just means you cannot run it at full speeds together but it still can be a good performer. If games run good then that's great!

Yeah things run way better, I mean I was upgrading all the way from a 4440s so this is a huge jump for me. Been playing beatsaber and it's been a way more enjoyable experience with the upgrade.

Great to hear Yuchoji, yes good to see the HUGE difference in POWER. 🙂 It's a good buzz to see that difference in real gameplay. Oh the VR game, looks sweet! That's the thing with a good computer when you can really enjoy the experience. It's fun and exciting!

Yesterday I reached out to the forums with some BSODs, at first I thought it was just due to XMP being enabled but the crashes still happen.

So everything was going fine for about 7 hours straight no crashes at all and the system felt stable all until I tried launching the XMB in RPCS3 a common PS3 emulator which I once again got that BSOD. I used WinDBG to view the MEMORY.DMP and it spit out this. I am not really sure what to make of all of it. Any help would be really great because I have exhausted myself trying to figure out the cause.

CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT (101)
An expected clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor in an
MP system within the allocated interval. This indicates that the specified
processor is hung and not processing interrupts.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000010, Clock interrupt time out interval in nominal clock ticks.
Arg2: 0000000000000000, 0.
Arg3: ffffb901be940180, The PRCB address of the hung processor.
Arg4: 0000000000000004, The index of the hung processor.

Hi again, unfortunately my luck ran out and it gave me the same BSOD with XMP off. I started a new forum thread with a crash dump log here.

Do the crashes still occur if the system is idling?? I'd reinstall Windows.

Yes once but that was when I booted into my old SSD from my old computer but it gave me the same BSOD. I've also tried to reinstall windows 3 or 4 times now with no avail.

The crashes are also much more frequent with XMP on happening a few minutes under load, where with it off it happened once in 7 hours.

Alright, some basic questions then to start since it's not software. What RAM slots are the RAM located in? They should be in the 2nd and 4th slot away from the CPU socket. When was the last time you updated the BIOS?

Now, I couldn't tell from the previous thread, but what speeds are the RAM sticks running at?

Ok that answered my question.

They are indeed in slots 2 and 4 I also did try one stick at a time in slot 2. And they are running at 2133MHZ base.

Oh and one stick at a time yielded the same crashes.

Ok that's good. When was the last time the BIOS was updated? BIOS updates tend to help improve memory stability so that's where I would start next.

Hmm. Have you tried reseating the processor next? Check for any bent pins in the socket of the motherboard.

I did try reseating it yesterday and didn't see any bent pins.

Have you tried running memtest86? I'm starting to suspect the processor might be bad or the motherboard if you cannot get it to run JEDEC timings (without XMP).

I got partway through the test but I will retake it again since it never finished. Then to note the mobo is new and I bought the CPU and RAM second hand. Then just to confirm run the test with XMP off?

Also I canceled the test, I got distracted and wanted to try something and it was taking forever yesterday

So it says to me your system when running full speed errors. Could be RAM what is working but not very well under full load.

I kinda think it might be because I forgot to mention but I ran HCI memtest i think that is what it's name is,  and it did give me an error im running Memtest86 right now.

Yes I'll put a bet on RAM working but not well under STRESS, I do think new RAM would sort your problem. You could get a deal on RAM online. It is a hassle for you but it would be worth it, no errors would be nice for you.

Hm okay I'm going to finish some more tests and I'll come back with results
