Been dealing with micro-stuttering for about a year and a half now and want to know some troubleshooting tips, here is a example from a game ive been playing recently, it doesnt do it in every game but it does it in enough to be pretty common which i dont believe to be normal, i would list all the fixes ive tried but there are to many to count.

Video:

GPU: RTX 3080

CPU: Ryzen 5600x

Ram: 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB RT

Motherboard: Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4/ac

SSD: 1920GB Force MP510 NVMe

PSU:CORSAIR 850X RMX SERIES PLUS GOLD - White

Cooling: Corsair H60i PRO XT

Operating System: Windows 10

Stuttering is an annoying issue, it is common with different makes of GPU's. 3 series can have bad stuttering, sometimes the games companies have to release an update to fix the problem if NVIDIA cannot fix it in driver updates.

Bit of a tech guy, converted to PC's when consoles did not entertain me enough, the last console being an Xbox, was fun with Halo multi-play though. But  the want to discover, to test, to learn more about computers drove me to levels I had never known...

Some GPU's I have had, 8800GTS 384MB, 7800GT, GEFORCE 4 MX440, 250GTS,  770 GTX, 1650 GTX, RTX 3050 Plus many other GPU's over the years...

The respect I have for LMG is massive like a black hole, sucking in all the knowledge, I watch their awesome video's, their knowledge is like that of a God. Seriously some say they are number 1 in the whole wide world. LMG is like the INTEL fabrication plant. Beaming with technology goodness...

That really sucks then, ive had a few games ive been wanting to play but the stutters just really deter me from playing them, im at the point where im thinking about switching back to console but i have been considering getting a new GPU, "if" i do should i just go with AMD instead of a 40 series card?

NVIDIA and AMD both can have stuttering, luck of the draw. I suggest if you buy a new card you defo don't want one that stutters, before you buy just check out how that make of GPU works overall. I won't say sack NVIDIA off but it's your choice. I understand you'd like to have a solid performer, it's not right this stuttering problem NVIDIA should give people their money back if a brand new card stutters so bad it's unplayable. It's like with tech companies get away with robbing people of hard earned cash. That I would say is illegal.

It can also be the config, CPU/GPU used plus other hardware what makes it harder to detect what is the route cause, it's not as simple as people think diagnosing.

Sometimes background applications can trigger microstutters. Have you tried doing a clean boot, with no software at all starting up, then playing a game?

it is not normal.....

I been running a 3080 for around 18 months now and never had issues and play games as varied as Dishonoured Cyberpunk Witcher Horizon Zero Dawn Metro Exodus  Deus EX Control etc etc and my 3080 pumps pixels to my 34" 1440p nano ips like a champ.

And mine I bought online so no chance to get any preview in a shop and view different systems cards etc on display

Yeah some RTX GPU's johnno23 are running like an asteroid through space, I have a RTX 3050, not super powered but smoothy as silk man.

i suppose I got lucky as it seems to run so well I have absolutely no intention of upgrading anytime in the next year or so. The temps are absurdly good aswell.

I do feel that Nvidea is kinda ignoring those that have issues though. I mean anyone that bought one on release up till the mining crash got fleeced and too many people just accepted what they had as they had no other choice as stocks were for so long were never available so that doing an RMA was truly a gamble if you would see a replacement within a month or two.

I was extremely lucky as I got the MSI Suprim and the critter was so large only people with full sized towers could actually get the beast to fit in a case so sales were slower on that model and subsequently the added markup was bearable. Only 150 USD over price so I simply grabbed it fast from the online store when they lowered the markup to clear stocks as they were not selling at that time.

Yes, ive done 4-5 windows wipes in the past few months, just did one the other day as well for troubleshooting and it doesnt make a difference.

Yeah man lucky buy. It will be a MONSTER GPU. Yeah NVIDIA has not been good with this MAJOR PROBLEM. They should not be selling hardware what basically doesn't work right as advertised. Robbing people of hundreds with faulty hardware.

Cyberpunk and Metro Exodus runs perfect for me, i do get micro stutters in witcher 3 though heres a video i made showing it, it appears at 0:02.

Yes I see, it's not right man. It could be certain combo's of hardware are just no good what means a lot of mobo, cpu, gpu, hardware just doesn't work right.

Yep ive been looking at the 7900 XTX which looks really good, only reason i wouldnt get a 40 series card is because the only one i really want is the 4090 lol but i would need a brand new CPU/motherboard and power supply.

if you are comfortable tinkering and the warranty has expired I would open her up. get the replacement thermal pads of a good quality and re paste the the die.

The included stock pads on many of the GPUs are so cheap to maximize profit.

Anything that can help the GPU perform with a little more ease should help with any stuttering....not a 100% guarantee that it solves it but lower temps gives the card a little more headroom to do its work.

Whats weird is some games run butter smooth and others stutter sometimes like you see there so its always a gamble if a game is gonna be smooth or not, ive actually been buying new AAA games on my PS5 recently and its been a hell of a lot better when it comes to anxiety if a game is gonna run well or not.

Dont think i mentioned this in the post but my entire PC is pre built for me by Origin which makes it a lot harder to diagnose, i have pretty good temps, my GPU and CPU stay around 60-70 Celsius.

Just seen your vid of the witcher..

have you tried DDU and then reinstall the drivers. try the drivers only as a custom install and ignore all the other nvidea stuff.

also make sure you have checked your startup folder to make sure everything but windows defender is switched off. No softare calling home to check for updates etc.

Also under settings select game mode as enabled if you have not done that as it will shutdown any background apps etc that are not required.

yes ive tried uninstalling Drivers with DDU multiple times and installed them fresh, i dont have many startup apps on and the most i leave on is discord which has overlay off and hardware acceleration off but i usually turn it off when playing games, game mode is also on and i have hardware accelerated gpu scheduling off.

Is your rig running in high performance mode? as in POWER settings and GPU in performance mode? Some people do forget or even don't know about the settings.

Yes random. Not just RTX but mainly. Due to a part in the GPU's what cannot be strained too hard. Chip fault. At least it runs good for you.
