Budget (including currency): 700-1000€

Country: Finland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CoD MW2, Battlefield 2042 and other AAA games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have a build sporting an AMD 3600x as well as an NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super. I have crammed this into an NZXT H510 Elite (with poor airflow as many of you know, I might need to switch case as well). I also have an NZXT Kraken dual fan AIO cooler. I also have two 144hz 1080p gaming monitors.

I’m looking to make a proper upgrade, as I want to be able to have a video/stream in the background on my second monitor while playing games like CoD. I’m also a student so I’m looking for the most bang for your buck upgrade. The challenge for me is that I have been out of the PC build world since the 900- and 1000-series GPUs, and merely bought the 2070 Super as a direct upgrade from my 1070.

With the 4070 just being released, and having an AM4 X570 motherboard with a rather old CPU, I’m looking for advice as to what to upgrade. Currently I’m running AAA games at an okay FPS with occasional stutters. I’m not able to have a video on whilst gaming, and I suspect my CPU is the problem, as it runs at a constant >85% usage in games. So in your guys’ opinion, should I just upgrade to a newer motherboard alongside a newer CPU and lay the groundwork for a later GPU upgrade? Or should I just go all out  now, with the secondhand market prices in freefall?

I’d really appreciate your wise words of advice, and feel free to ask any questions if something was left unclear!

Cheers!

Is it so bad that id replace the case? No, id just throw the front panel in the trash and keep it bare. If your temps are fine then it should be fine right now.

What X570 board do you have?

Well I wouldn't say it's that bad as it's not thermal throttling my setup, but it does run quite hot at times. As for the mobo, it's a Asus Prime X570-Pro. Forgot to add that I also have 32gb of DDR4 3200mhz ram.
