So a friend got an upgrade for his pc and he was selling his ryzen 5 5500 for £40 because he wanted it gone, seeing a solid deal i bought it off him  atm I use a amd ryzen 5 2600,

My gpu is a GTX 1660 SUPER, not a bad one  but also not a very powerful one, I will assume the better cpu will bottleneck my gpu, is it bad? Will my pc break? Will jt make my pc slower? What is bottleneck, should I start using this new cpu?

Bottlenecking is in no way dangerous, there will always be a bottleneck somewhere. This is not something you need to worry about when upgrading your CPU to the 5500.  It will give you a somewhat ok boost in CPU performance over the 2600 and should increase your FPS in CPU bound games. Good upgrade for 40 bucks in my opinion.   There is a good chance you might need to update your BIOS to make the 5000 series CPU work in your current motherboard.  If you dont know what that is or how to do it, I am willing to help you and teach you how ( It can be confusing for a beginner ).

No problem! If you have ANY other questions just ask 🙂 You saw websites that said Bottlenecking was dangerous or could damage your components?
