Recommended PC Upgrades

I want to try and upgrade my PC in the next couple months but I would love some advice on where I should start and how I could upgrade each component. I think I will upgrade the GPU next. I think I might be able to resell my current one. I want to try and spend between £200-£350 on the new one. If it would be better for me to upgrade something other then my GPU then that is also fine. Any advice would great.

 

Current PC

 

CPU - Ryzen 5 1600 3.20GHz

GPU - Radeon RX 570 Black Edition 4GB

RAM - 2x8GB 2400MHz

Storage 250GB SSD + 1TB HDD

What exactly is your machine not able to do currently? Is there some workload that it's not performing well with?

 

If you're gaming on it, then monitor specs, and target games help as well.

I currently use my machine for Gaming and Programming. The games I usally play include FPS games like Overwatch and Fortnite. I also play games like GTA, Rocket League and FIFA. I am able to run all the games I want to play at highish settings at a playable rate but it can depend game to game. I currently have two monitors one being a HP monitor which is 60hz which I use as a second monitor and I use a 144hz ASUS monitor as my main monitor. I would ideally like to be able to run all the games I play at a constant 90+ fps. The game which do not run so well is normally just Fortnite

What is the motherboard model? This will determine what is the limit on the CPU upgrade.

PSU model? This will limit GPU upgrade or potentially you will have to change the PSU as well.

 

Looking at the specs now, CPU first, then RAM.

The motherboard is MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX Motherboard ATX

The PSU Corsair CV450, CV Series, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, 450 Watt Non-Modular Power Supply

 

I don't mind upgrading these components if it means I can get better performance due to get better parts like the CPU and GPU

Good board, even 5800X3D should be fine.

PSU not so great, it's a low quality PSU, anything above RX 6600 level power draw would need a PSU upgrade.

RAM would need a bit of upgrade as well, to 2x8GB 3200 at least.

Just to be clear, I'm on the outright recommending 5800X3D, this will depend on your future GPU.

If you're going for mid-low end GPUs like RX 6800 XT/RTX 3070 and below, R5 5700X is a good CPU pairing.

If you're going for high end GPUs, like RX 6900 XT/RTX 3080 and up, go with 5800X3D.
