painting a GPU?

Go to solution Solved by Blue4130,

I have a feeling that he is talking about the IO side, not the backplate.

@Oqt1 All of the grounding is done through the PCIE cables and pcie slot. There is no problem painting it. Just remove it first or tape the crap out of the GPU.

I have noticed a fair amount of gpu's have a silver or metallic backplate.. (the side where you connect your cables) and I was wondering if you could just paint that plate to get a better look?

I might have heard something about something. about grounding and the pc case and something something.. but is that true?

I wouldn't do it. You could risk clogging the cooler fins and creating overheating problems. Also, the paint may insulate and also cause overheating problems.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

Due to the above, I've likely revised posts <30 min old, and do not think as you do.
