I think this may be a good place for my question... I've never used controllers for gaming and just got an EasySMX wireless controller. It works (xinput protocol by default), but when you don't use it, the wireless receiver goes into this blinking red light rage, which keeps the computer awake -- screen stays on and no sleep. I tried it on several machines, always the same behavior. Pull the receiver out and all goes back to normal. There are no power options in the device properties for this controller, so not sure what to do. Sleep works when I force it in windows, otherwise no luck.

Any suggestions? Alternatively, I can still send this thing back to Amazon, so what's a good xbox-style controller for PC that doesn't cause this sort of nonsense?

Thanks!

The official Microsoft Xbox controllers - I've had the Xbox 360 wireless controller for years, never a single issue, works amazing.  It was getting wore out (the top of the analogue sticks, the rubber was starting to fall apart..).  So I got one of these: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/accessories/controllers/xbox-wireless-controller-usb-c  Works amazing.

That looks like a cheap controller. I've used 8BitDo controllers for a few years and never had an issue but used to with old wired options.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

Alright, thanks -- back to Amazon this controller goes. I just wasn't sure if these controllers were PnP or if maybe I needed to download some sort of software for power options. Nothing in that tiny booklet, so to hell with it.

upd: ordered the 8bitdo bt controller, looks like exactly what I wanted in the first place.
