So I just recently (2 days ago) picked up a Razer Deathadder 2013 and a BlackWidow Ultimate 2014 from BestBuy (I wanted it same day) and I was wondering for FPS games mostly should I even use the macros on the keyboard and if so, what for? I am also wondering since I have two side mouse buttons what is the best functions to attach to those aswell. Thanks guys.

I tried setting the side buttons to switch between weapons, I just got pissed because it's much slower than using the scroll wheel, I never really tried using any of the macros on my Anansi/DA 2013 except the one I mentioned.

Maybe set macros for somekind of spotting button or for your items and such?

I have never used macros, maybe figure out how to set one on the mouse (the back-forward) to switch weapons, I could never do it.

I was thinking switch weapons might be a good idea so that I could continue moving forward while switching, but I'm just not sure.

Yeah, it seems cool, but whenever I try setting it up it doesn't work for some reason. Someone probably knows how.

I use my keyboard for multi-key macros or repetition; if the game doesn't support it, then I'll remap the extra buttons to keystrokes for various things.

I like having melee be right on my thumb for quick access, I'll make grenade toss be the button on the opposite side of my mouse. I hit that with my pinky.

It's all personal preference really. I tend to avoid multi-keystroke macros though...they get you killed more often than not...least for me. Something could happen and you have no way to react until your macro finishes (plus it's technically cheating)

I think I'm going to try the side buttons for switch weapon, I found the scroll wheel to touch and I would sometimes over switch so I use numbers only for weapon switching now and scroll wheel is map variables. Now, the problem with using spot on the macros is they are further away then the current spot key. "Q" I honestly am starting to feel as if the macros won't be helpful for a fps game.

Just try it out first then just go on from there.

Personally, I would just leave the keyboard macros alone and just experiment with the mouse macros just because the keyboard buttons for the game (battlefield and such) are perfectly placed already (for me).

Macro's are pretty much reserved for MMO game's or MOBA's. Not FPS games lol.

My keyboard has macros, and I used to use them for launching Firefox and email and a couple other things. And also used them in my music making program, but stopped doing that a long time ago. For the mouse I use my thumb buttons for sprint (back button) and various other things like flashlights, ability activation, or whatever useful thing in the game I need it for. I don't like holding alt for sprint (cause shift to sprint is retarded just as ctrl for crouch is too hard to reach in the heat of things) So i've made it to where I pretty much don't have to take my fingers off of anything. It's really nice.

I'd use the side buttons for something like grenade and reload. so you don't need to really shift your hands off of WASD that often. But I use my macro keys for switching between profiles depending on the game i'm playing. (I have a naga) So I switch between profiles for things like smite, world of tanks and WoW. But other then that I don't find macro keys very useful unless you get into some heavy competitive play for hot key based games like world of warcraft. For FPS they are pretty pointless : /
