Posted May 4, 2014 UPDATED BUILD! Hey Guys! As you all might have noticed, I'm pretty new here I was led here by Linus's vids that helped me understand the whole concept of PC Building and inspired me to build one myself! I have carefully thought this through, but I have almost no knowledge of building PC's except for what I've learnt from Linus and a couple of other Youtubers out there I will be building this during my Winter Holidays (November/December). I require a bit of help with a few things: I will only be overclocking the CPU when I feel it has become a little outdated and requires a bit of a boost since I've heard OCing reduces the life-span of the CPU. I am also trying to have a Color theme (preferably Red and Black) as I want my PC to act as a bit of a showpiece as well Will the 450D fit everything? Still cannot decide between Video Cards but I may end up getting an MSI or EVGA Superclocked Need a way to decrease the price tag a bit without getting rid of the CPU or Graphics Card. 1. Budget & LocationMy budget is USD2000 but I live in Dubai, UAE which means I would have to order everything online. (mostly Amazon).2. AimThis would basically be an upgrade from my laptop that is good enough for a few games like LoL, non-modded Minecraft, non-modded Skyrim, and a few basic FPS games like Counter Strike. I would like for this to be able to run heavily modded Skyrim, modded Minecraft and maybe games like BF4 or possibly even WatchDogs if I can afford getting my hands on it It would also be used for AutoCAD, bit of Photoshop, etc. But most importantly, I want this build to be Future Proof. 3. MonitorsI will only be running one 1080p monitor that I might re-use from the Desktop I have but I am open to suggestions for a good, cheap one.4. PeripheralsSince this is going to be a majorly Gaming PC, I would go for some Razer Kraken PRO headsets and a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Keyboard but I still haven't decided on a Mouse.5. Why are you upgrading? My laptop isn't good enough to run graphic heavy games and so I would like to move to a PC as it is much more easier and better to use. 6. (Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-05-28 09:17 EDT-0400) I'll be updating this with a 4790k when it comes out but for now, I'll leave the 4770k in there. That is all I've got for now! Thank you for reading this and for giving me your opinions! Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/148018-my-first-build/ Share on other sites
 Posted May 4, 2014 Go with ASUS, MSI or EVGA for your 780, you will not be disappointed. 4770K is perfectly overclockable with H100 cooling and Z87 socket, no probs there. Is your RAM 1*8Gb or 2*4? 2*4 is more preferable (if you're not planning to upgrade to 32 Gb), and if you'll have some spare money, it's better to upgrade to 2133 MHz variant, Haswell CPUs do like higher frequencies. Mouse - Logitech G700 is a good choice, but you'll definitely need to find a friend or go to a store so you can try the mouse in your hand before you buy it. Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times. Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/148018-my-first-build/#findComment-1976731 Share on other sites
 I have 2*4 sticks of RAM and I am not looking to upgrade it to 16GB let alone 32 GB Thank you for replying The only concerns I have with the H100i though is that I might not be able to put the Radiator onto the top of the case without the Heat Sink of the motherboard getting in the way. I will look into the mouse as we do have a few electronics shops here that sell peripherals but not parts for building a PC and even if they do, they're way higher than what they're supposed to be. EDIT: as you say, ASUS, MSI and EVGA are great brands but I've also been contemplating on the Gigabyte one too. I simply can't decide on this as some have looks over performance, some having cooling and looks but very bad performance compared to other 780's, etc. Also, I will not be OCing my GPU and so I find it very hard to make this decision Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/148018-my-first-build/#findComment-1976805 Share on other sites
 Posted May 5, 2014 Author I've been thinking between the EVGA Superclocked ACX, MSI Twin Frozr, and Gigabyte Windforce Geforce GTX 780's and I still can't choose between any of them :3 Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/148018-my-first-build/#findComment-1980567 Share on other sites
 Great, though I wouldn't recommend you get a case from there, since they're overpriced. Posted May 29, 2014 Author Great, though I wouldn't recommend you get a case from there, since they're overpriced. yeah they are over priced and they don't have EVGA stuff so I'll have to import a lot of the lighter components because they're charging 20% more than how much it would cost for me to import everything.
