Hello all I’ve been experiencing some random shut downs after about 20 minutes of playing a game and i don’t know why I ran a me test and I’ll show my results here. But my build consist of Ryzen 9 7950x, Nvidia TX 3080ti, Dominator Platnium Ram 32GB 5200MHz, a X670E-E Gaming Motherboard, 6 Corsair fans 3 front bring in air and 2 top and 1 rear exhausting, and the cooler for the Ryzen 7 CPU. My PC seems to run fine when I’m not playing a game like I was able to run this me test for over 7 hours a total of 4 test. I feel like it’s an issue of my CPU temps running to hot when I’m playing a game bc of the little stock cooler I am using from my old Ryzen 7 3700 that came with it

1000W EVGA and all games

I would say it is likley the GPU Transient spike

If you use Msi afterburner or a similar GPU OC Software you can try set your gpu power limit to 70% or so and see if the problem continues, Then you can know if it is the psu being temporalrliy overloaded or if their is another issue like the cpu cooler although i wouldnt use an old stock cooler for the 7000 series cpus, you probably have a lot of unused performance in your cpu due to that 3700x stock cooler realisticly you need a huge tower coole at minimum

I do have a Corsair iCUE H100i liquid CPU cooler coming in and I’m hoping taht resolves my issue. Also I’ve had the 3080ti for awhile, about a year now and haven’t experienced this issue until I swapped my cpu and motherboard recently also my gpu temp runs at about 60-70 degrees Celsius in games

I’m trying the power limit thing now

So I set my gpu usage to 70% and was able to get through a full game of madden unlike yesterday where it shut down after the first half. This time i got through a full game but it ended up shutting down at the end of the game. But also after it shuts down I go to try and start it back up and it won’t start so I feel like it’s bc the cpu overheated and needs to cool down is my theory. What’s your thoughts?

Yeah if the CPU is overheating it will shutdown to protect its self but im sure its already thermal throttled within 2 mins of powering on due to cpu cooler and these chips are designed to run at 95c under load , Did you try 65% or 60% if you can complete the game with that then it still suggests gpu power over cpu heat. one other thing i would try if your cpu cooler hasnt arrived is set the cpu to eco mode in bios *this will stop it overheating at all* and you can definitvley know if its cpu heat or gpu power draw.

So to be clear if it is the GPU Power you would need to look at beefier psu with better oc protection

If its cpu  you already have a aio on the way for it

Here are some of the temp reading I was getting yesterday when playing Madden. Ot shows the max it hit the minimum and average and also the temp my pc was at right before it shut down. The temp was at a constant 85 degrees C I can’t imagine that is great for the CPU
