Comfortable Headset for big ears

So Ive got a bit of a problem with my current headset, after some time it really hurts my ears and is actually causing them to bleed so I think its time I looked into alternatives, I have fairly big ears so am really looking for a headset that will accomodate that properly and provide really good sound quality both in terms of what I hear and what people I talk to online would hear so it need to have a good microphone.

At present I'm using a Steelseries Siberia V2 but these are causing me problems, any ideas for a more comfortable option?

I can use analog or USB but would prefer the latter. I have also looked into the idea of a individual mic and headset, but I would rather have the two combined.

Your ears can actually bleed?!?!

But if you hate BOSE you'll hate this suggestion

I have the BOSE AE2 and it has a huge amount of space for big ears...

Also, it sounds great compared to my friend's ATH-M50. (I also use Razer Surround)

And you could get a Modmic (when it comes out soon)

Thanks, I do actually have a pair of ATH-M50s which I find comfortable and I do have a few mics lying around, only problem is they are fairly wide pickup XLR condenser mics so I'd need to power one and route it into my PC, and then theres the sheer amount of background noise its bound to pick up. All in all I think I'd rather go with the simplicity of a complete package, headset with an intergrated mic.

I recommend looking into Audiotechnica's Gaming Headset range if you insist on having a mic/headphone combo. They seem to be good quality cans with one of the best built in mics I've heard. With nice large plush ear cups. (Although the wing headband design may be a point worth looking into, some find it super comfortable, others hate it.)

Good point, I was actually very interested in them and have a lot of faith in Audio Technicas products but their new gaming headsets still don't seam to be available in the UK, I am finding myself using my Sibera V2s almost nightly at the moment and as a result I'd rather not wait since its causing problems with my ears.

Just saying that the ModMic will be better than buying a combo one...

Unless its Audio Technica gaming or Corsair Vengeance headphones.

Sennheiser HD518, HD558, or HD598, those are most likely your best options

Yikes, well perhaps some of corsairs Vengeance 1500/2100 headsets may be a look into.

Compared to my old Siberia V2's my Vengeance 1500 (v1) has better Mic and Audio quality and larger/softer earcups. But in terms of weight, they are slightly heavier.

Of course. And I'm sure the OP is aware of that also.

However :

I think I'd rather go with the simplicity of a complete package, headset with an intergrated mic.

The Zalman is not exactly integrated and it means another wire running down the headset.

Although if you don't mind running a Zalman/Modmic then the Sennheiser HD's are very good.

you can clip it on the wire all the way down so that it works like one

Those are terrible for big ears. I could not stand my PC360. OP go get Beyerdynamic DT line or AKG K612. The AKGs look great for big heads/ears but I'll have a more definitive answer when I get them Monday. Also, to clarify, are the cups not wide enough or not deep enough?

The audio technica headsets are slated for a European release June 1st, so theres a bit of a wait before then.

I have noticed a UK seller on amazon has the closed backed ones Here i'm waiting for the open backed ones though.

Are the problems with your ears related to piercings?

Yes I had the PC360 and sold them because they were uncomfortable. You must have small ears.

well, to me they seem like they would be good for big ears, even linus said sennheiser headphones were made for elves(big pointy ears)

what

The M50's are tiny, they are literall quarter of an inch away from being on-ear headphones.

Yeah, for long pointy ears, but the cups are oval, making them not suitable for like.. wide ears (??) plus they have a bit of clamp force, and don't REALLY stretch out much over time.

I think he means the depth of the pads or cups, considering he finds M50's comfortable, and those are almost on-ears.

EDIT: dumb typo, lol

i didn't know he meant width wise i meant like how they were narrow

Yeah I think he needs to clarify that. I'm not sure.

Thank you for all the advise and feedback, I happened to be in an electronics store that had the CM Storm Sirus 5.1 out and about and they are absolutely massive, really big ear cups and fit my head fine, mic quality is really good for a gaming headset too so I splashed out for that, seamed like a good bet as I could test them and confirm they were comfy in person.

Pioneer SE-A1000 would be better sound quality wise and it is really big so it should be comfortable. The only issue is that the best mic with the money you have left is a Zalman clip on and while that is pretty good for the price, it will pick up background sounds.
