Quick Question Regarding Upgrading SSD's

Hello, I recently bought a Sabrent gen 4 SSD for my PC. My motherboard only has one Gen 4 slot available and it's currently occupied by my current SSD, which is gen 3. I know I will have to clone the data from the current one to the new one somehow (not totally sure how yet), but after that I want to switch the slots the SSDs are in so the gen 4 slot is occupied by the gen 4 SSD. Will the computer recognize that as the boot drive and work from there or what do I need to do to ensure my PC still works? I could not find a straightforward answer through google.

Add the new SSD in the available slot and clone the current drive to it using something like Macrium Reflect. Then move the new Gen 4 drive to the Gen 4 slot, and you can go into BIOS to assign it as the boot drive
