Budget (including currency): 700-850€

Country: Lithuania

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p, war games such as warthunder, battlefield V, battlefield 2042, car games such as beamng, forza 5, and others.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  So i have all the other parts i need a cpu and gpu combo for 1440p i want to play at high fps and i wonder what should i buy? Cpu needs to be intel because i got gifted a intel motherboard.

Do you know exactly what the motherboard is? intel changes CPU sockets every 2 generations so what CPU you can get really depends on what motherbaord you have.

System: AMD R7 5700g (OC to 4.45GHz fixed clock) / Noctua NH-D15 / Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 / Gigabyte Waterforce WB RTX 2080 Ti / Crucial 4x8GB DDR4 (OC to 3800MHz Cl16) / 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus / Corsair 4000D airflow / Corsair TX650M / BenQ Mobius EX2510 24.5" 1080p 144Hz

So what do you think?

I dont know what pricing is like in your region so ill give you a few options and you can see which one lines up best with your budget

For the CPU a 13600kf would be ideal, but i expect a 12600kf will be closer to you budget, and failing that a 12400f (nothing between the 12400f and 12600kf is worth getting unless its the same price or cheaper than the 12400f because they all have the same cores, just very slightly different clock sppeds).

For the GPU you are probably looking at an rx 6800 or higher/ rtx 3070 or higher but they are probably going to be out of you budget so you can either go for something slightly cheaper like a 6700xt/6750xt or 3060ti which should still manage high framerates at fairly high settings. you could also look at getting a GPU second hand since there are a lot of good deals on them second hand at the moment. If none of those are an option than a 3060 or 6600xt/6650xt will still be able to hit tripple digit framerates at 1440p but you will probably have to drop down to medium setings.

If you can find some prices on a few of those then i (or someone else) can give you some much more specific recommendations

Ok thanks!

So the prices are:

12400f is 160€

12600kf is 253€

13600kf is 330€

Gpus

3070 is 580€

3070ti is 720€

3080 is 930€

Amd

6750xt is 513€

6800 (for some reason rare and hard to find) is 698€

6800xt is 780€ (all the cheaper models are sold out)

And for used stuff the prices are better but almost all of them have been mined on and i believe that most of the ppl didnt even clean them in the mining. But the prices are tempting the 3090 is 750euro which is an awesome price.

Since you are planning on gaming at 1440p and all 3 of those CPUs are more than good enough id suggest spending as much as you can on the GPU rather than the CPU.

The GPUs from best to worst are roughly: 3080,3070ti,6800xt,3070,6800,6750xt

A 3070 + 12400f is probably the combination id go for with your budget.

If you wanted to spend any more than that id still look at upgrading the GPU further rather than the CPU so maybe a 3070ti + 12400f.

The 12400f has excelent single threaded performance and 6 cores which is the sweet spot right now for most games, so paired with a 3070 and assuming you have a decent RAM kit (the usual 16GB or higher in dual channel, ideally running at a decent speed) and a SSD you should have no problem hitting tripple digit FPS at high settings 🙂

ok thanks i saw a few benchmarks where i saw the 6800xt outperforming the 3070ti and even the 3080 in the games i like so maybe that would be a better option?

The 6800xt and 3070ti are usually quite close so if some of the games you play favour AMD then it could be the better option. I mainly suggested Nvidia since the 3070 and 3070ti are a bit cheaper in your region and fit into your budget better than the 6800xt.

I do seem to remember seeing that Battlefield V in particular likes AMD GPUs and im guessing 2042 will be simmilar. (i dont really play racing games personally so i have no idea about those) so you are right that AMD would be a better option. I still wouldnt take any less than a 6800xt over a 3070 personally since there is quate a large performance drop from the 6800xt to the 6800 and there isnt much of a price drop.

If you do want to spend a bit more and go AMD then you might also want to have a quick look and make sure that the 6900xt or 6950xt aren't cheaper than the 6800xt because pricing can be a bit wierd sometimes. (you might also want to look at 6800xt/6900xt/6950xt second hand)

Edit: in summary the best 3 options are probably:

1) stick within your budget and go for the 3070 (not ti)

2)Go over budget and get a 6800xt (or 6900xt/6950xt if they are priced the same or cheaper for any reason)

3) find a 6800xt or higher second hand. since they are relatively new cards, even in the worse case where they have been mined on they shouldnt have been mining for too long so should still be fine if they are working, but stick to things that are sold as working, avoid anything sold as untested)

System: AMD R7 5700g (OC to 4.45GHz fixed clock) / Noctua NH-D15 / Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 / Gigabyte Waterforce WB RTX 2080 Ti / Crucial 4x8GB DDR4 (OC to 3800MHz Cl16) / 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus / Corsair 4000D airflow / Corsair TX650M / BenQ Mobius EX2510 24.5" 1080p 144Hz

There is a 3090 new tested for only 5hours and with new thermal pads
