Hello all! i just swapped platforms from z490 i9 10850k to z790 i7 13700k, i put it all togather and it posted and all seemed fine, bios looked good and i made sure all the settings were good, than i booted into windows and the screen immediatly went full artifact mode. i pluged into the mob directly and it worked that way, so i ddu wiped the system and tried again. same issue. i swapped to my 2060 just to make sure and yep, my 3080 was the issue. but if i go into the bios with the 3080 it works fine, just booting into windows is the problem. does anybody know how to help? i even tried setting the PCI slot to different gens, gen 3, gen 4 nothing worked. im currently using my 6700xt from my 2nd rig till i figure it out. funny thing is, my 3080 was literally working fine before. like this morning. i guess the question is can swapping to a new platform kill a gpu?

Have you tried the 3080 in the rig the 6700xt came out of?

i would have to swap the psu from my main rig into that system if i did, it doesnt have enough pci supplemental power to support the 3080 and well, seeing as another nvidia card as well as an amd card both worked fine it really seems like the 3080 is the issue. (850 watt in my main rig 550 watt in the other)

Should have a pigtailed PCIE cable on there no? From your description, it was happening even in windows so just loading it at idle should be fine on a pigtail with no load on it to test.

Does your Motherboard have a QCode readout or LEDs that indicate a VGA issue during that? Does your 3080 have dual bios? Specific Models of what you have helps us guide the troubleshooting.

The motherboard is the msi mpg z790 edge wifi and the 3080 is a gaming x trio from msi, no dual bios switch. like im literally using the PC right now talking to you it works perfectly fine with my refrence rx 6700xt, i may just have to send the 3080 to msi to get it looked at tbh.

and the leds on the MOBO didnt seem to indicate anything was wrong, the card would start loading into windows and as soon as it got into the windows login screen it would completely artifact the entire screen
