So I plan on getting a new laptop pretty soon as my current laptop is running Windows XP with relatively crappy specs. However, I feel that it would be better to purchase a new laptop as opposed to upgrading my current computer.

I have been looking for some laptops that have decent specs (at least i5, decent GPU, under $700 USD) yet maintain a relatively low price. So far, my best option is an Acer E1-472G-6844. It is only $600 (USD) and it contains an i5-4200U running at 1.6 GHz (kinda weak...), NVIDIA 820M, and 8 GB RAM. Is this a good choice? Why or why not?

Also, the whole list that I have been looking at can be found here: http://bloggao.blogspot.com/2014/04/decisions.html (I have been thinking of buying a refurbished Lenovo Y510p with i5, as well).

Hopefully you can help me, thanks!

That Nvidia GPU isn't even enough for light gaming. Especially when you consider the battery life you'll get.

Get something with integrated graphics and forget gaming or upgrade you desktop.
