Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware

HoodedUnicorn

So Monday I played some NFS Unbound.

Tuesday I got the "Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware" for NFS Unbound.

It seems that Only DirectX12 Titles are affected. Played Civ6 on DX11 without issue, (tried to) Played The Quarry and I got the same error.

Tried to play Red Dead Redemption 2 hoping Vulkan would be okay but got ERR_GFX_INIT. No Hung error(Those errors affecting the DX12 games)

What I Have (Hardware):

Ryzen 7 3700X (no iGPU)

RTX 2080 Super

32 GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM

Software:

Windows 10 Education 22H2

OS Build 19045.2311

Nvidia GeForce GRD Version 527.56

What I have tried so far without success:

  • Updated Drivers

  • RegEdit \GraphicsDrivers TdrLevel Value 0

  • SFC /scannow and DISM

  • In settings set the game as High Performance

  • Run as Admin

  • Used GPU Tweak III, -10% Power Target, -50MHz Boost Clock (Worked Monday, allowed me to play)

  • Run Automatic Maintenance in Security and Maintenance

  • DDU'ed Driver and installed a previous one

NFS Unbound is legit and I have PlayPro so I can play it for 15 bucks.

Does anyone have a fix?

Quite a stupid guess, but have you tried Turning it on and off again (that was a joke). In all seriousness try to disable your antivirus software for an hour and see if it solves the issue (shut down everything firewall virus protection etc...)

So I disabled Firewall.

The Quarry seems to work.

NFS Unbound crashes with same error (See Attached Image)

RDR2 crashes with same error stated in post20221208_212619.thumb.jpg.d6976a7d46568a0d84bbdb1216715a9e.jpg

There are a number of good ideas here:

https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-fix-tapplication-has-been-blocked-from-accessing-graphics-hardware-error-windows/ and here

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/application-has-been-blocked-from-accessing/e662165a-0bdf-4262-a1ce-b96bb2294dda

This thread also refers to as a number of links with possibly more solutions.

I'd post the articles theselves, but each are too long to be practical.

Please read "What I have tried so far without success:". I've been to page 3 on google with this error.

Hmmm okay so it's not that. Since some DirectX12 games seem to be running and some don't it seems like games themselves somehow got corrupted. If you have fast internet you could just reinstall the games themselves. And see if it helps, also check for windows updates. If nothing helps I think it would be faster to move important files to D drive, and reinstall windows. Since troubleshooting it might take days/weeks and reinstalling windows would take 30 minutes. Then reinstalling the programs would take a few hours.
