I have asked this question a few times on the TureNAS forums but since this is a hardware problem I thought I would expand the area I ask this.

My problem is, my servers motherboard had a vga connector that broke and will no longer work. I recently bought a quadro p400 to try and get video output working. But as you can guess, it did not work right out of the box, showing a no signal on the display.

TrueNAS or freebsd dose support the drivers, and from what I have read the drivers for my gpu come included in truenas 12+. So I should have them.

I can run some commands and I can see the gpu listed as installed hardware.

Truenas blocks "pkg" command on the root system so I can't update the drivers and the command I keep seeing "nvidia-smi" says command not found. Also any command with Nvidia.

My motherboard dose not support IPMI so I can't use that.

The VGA port broke off the motherboard, a new one would have to be soldered back on, and I can't do that.

My main goal is to have a video output of the local machine, I'm worried that the server won't turn on for some reason and I won't be able to fix it without a display.

Dose anyone have a suggestion or something I could try?

the annoying thing is that server motherboards tend to default to on-board graphics because add-in GPU's are usually there for other reasons.

i was hoping the board had ipmi to access the igpu with, but it doesnt look like it.

Does your server have a USB port?

If so, try a USB to HDMI convertor, they're available for only a few bucks at WalMart.

And you do know that you can remote into your server for any maintenance needs.

I have tried a USB to HDMI and it did not work. I am aware I can remote in but im worried if the network config gets messed up or if i update a OS and the OS wont boot. I cant remote in from that.
