Budget (including currency): $1300

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: League of Legends, Ark: Survival Evolved, PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, Total War: Warhammer 3, streaming

Other details: Upgrading from GTX 1660 gaming laptop.  Budget Increased from $1000 to $1,300.  Large M.2 storage with DRAM is a must.  No peripherals needed.  Monitors will be 1080p and 1440p at 120Hz.  Considering upgrading CPU?  Trying to build a PC that will run popular games at High/Ultra settings for the next 3-5 years before needing a full rebuild.  The owner of this PC will not be interested in making any component upgrades, so this is basically a console.

Edit:  I should add that I plan on overclocking it for him.

Consider an air cooler rather than an AIO.

Consider a B550 motherboard with Wi-Fi.

Get a much better PSU.

I'm worried an air cooler might not do the trick on an overclocked Ryzen.  Especially if I end up grabbing a 5800X.

How does that compare as far as overclocking or spec-wise?

The 5800X has a TDP of 105W. A good air tower has no problem cooling that. The 65W TDP 5700X is child's play.

The OC performance differential of mainstream motherboards is relatively small.

Given that the system will be used by a non technical person, I would trade OC MHz for better reliability and stability.

since you already bought the 3060TI i did the best with everything else, although i would recommend downgrading the CPU to upgrade the GPU

5800X3D best CPU for gaming currently
240AIO will give similar performance to the arctic freezer, but cheaper and RGB
While i love ASrocks boards most of them dont have Bios Flashback so in the case your board doesnt have the correct bios itll be a pain to update it, This board has bios Flashback AND built in WIFI. (Mbd went out of stock as soon as i made this list, switched it to cheapest of a select few b550 boards all with Wifi)

4x8 3600 CL16 kit, its faster than your kit and you get Dual Rank (Dual rank gives more perf when you fill every slot, 16gb sticks dont have this) 32gb will be more than you need for your workload

cheaper storage, not many will use the full speed of a gen 4 drive, its not worth the money, i would instead put that money elsewhere like CPU, GPU, or even larger storage

Your 3060 TI, I would've spent a little less on CPU (like 5700x or 5800x) to Upgrade that to a 6800 (or XT) or 3070. But since you already bought it according to the list i left it alone.

I love the 4000D airflow but its an expensive case, this case is cheaper and comes with built in fans.

This PSU is on a good deal rn although if it goes off deal i would also recommend a 650w or 700w psu C tier or better on the PSU cultists list (https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CNYR8r

5700x
air cooler (i would upgrade this if you can find the money)
select b550 mbd with WIFI
6800 (if you can find this for less used go for it)
