I was monitoring my build's thermal over night while idle.

For some reason, my warmest part is the NVMe (CPU/GPU around 30C, and the NVMe at 40C when idle).

 

The weird thing is that the NVMe periodically rising its temps to 50C for a duration of ~18mins (or integer multiples of 18min sometimes).

Is that a normal behavior?? (see graph)

 

System details: Aorus B550i, 5600X, RTX3090, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB, OS: Ubuntu 22.04

I would assume the same applies. Log which processes are running together with their disk usage. That should hopefully show why temperature periodically goes up.
