Well...My pc just broke down after 2 years. Yesterday, while I was playing games, the monitor just turned off and the fan on the vga or the cpu ran at maximum speed (which normally I set them on balance), the fan got so loud that even when I played Elden Ring, it didn't make those loud noise. After I checked the cable from the PSU, the PC just shut down immediately, I tried to reset but it was useless, not even a sign, but the electricity still in the case ???. My PSU just suck, the brand is Aerocool, in the E or F tier, and i'm plan on replacing a new one but I want to have a new graphic cards in the future like the rtx 3060 or the rx 6600, so maybe around 650W is enough or I can get lower like 550W? cuz My pc case is quite small so there's no way it gonna fit a 3 fan rtx 3060. BTW is it better to get a high B tier 550W or a low D tier 650W PSU cuz... I don't know if it's gonna fried my vga and other parts of the pc or not. Tks for helping!!

My pc specs: AMD ryzen 5 2600, b450 motherboard, 16gb ram, gtx 1650, 3 fans, 500W PSU (Aerocool F tier BRUH)

Never get a D-tier PSU. However whether a 550w supply is enough for your system depends heavily on what your parts are. Try a 650 or 750 watt a or b-tier, C being… not ideal but acceptable.

Shell out a bit more for 650W B tier, you've seen what low quality PSU could do.

The difference is usually not that much anyway, think of it as an investment to keep your PC safe.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

Oh, I see, thanks for helping, my local store just flooded with D, E, F tier PSU, while B tier or A tier PSU price is double their website price

Got it, maybe i should spend more for the PSU though, it is important, and I don't want low tier PSU straight up fried my whole PC down...it will cost more than the GPU price itself.

What psus are available and for what prices?

Whats your current psu?

Full system specs? You can also include upgrade plan as thatll help for psu reccomendation

I dont use arbitrary tiers, its black and white for me, anything that works works, anything that doesnt will either have reliability issues (could be random shutdowns), not turn on, or explode in a dramatic fashion (looking at you giga pgm). My 11 year old 450w dazumba (effectively 360w due to 12v rail being 30a) works fine for my oc shenanigans even x58 and im pretty sure this would fall into a very low arbitrary tier though not explosive or unreliable

nah there are plenty of $75-$100 units in tiers A and B, shouldn’t be TOO bad, whereas a good GPU will cost $125 for an rx580 and $150-200 for a used 6600xt

well...for me 75$ to 100$ is quite premium in my country currency, the best PSU I can possibly get is TUF 650W bronze which is in B tier and it already cost nearly 100$ in my currency while in the US it is like half the price

Vietnam, the tax strikes really hard on electronic stuff, and my budget just around 50$ or 60$, can't go higher than that

Try to find a used power supply in A-tier or B-tier that’s been taken good care of… not much else you can do

What psus can you get from the store your buying and what price?

You may wish to buy a used psu, youll usually get better units then when you buy new atleast at lower budgets

even the used PSU are F and E tier, the local store has D-F tier PSU though, only a few are B tier, so...for me it is better to spend a little bit more to buy a B tier PSU

Wouldnt focus on arbitrary tiers, what matters is the psu works and doesnt have reliability or explosion issues, my psu would problably be a very low arbitrary tier but it works just fine and has been for the 2 years ive owned it and 9 years with previous owner(s)

Just tell what psus are available

That's a decent PSU but a bit loud. The 550w is a lot cheaper and more than enough for your PC, even when you upgrade the GPU to a RTX 3060 or RX 6700. TUF 550w is Silver efficient and TUF 650w meets Gold. See Cybenetics reports.

wait really?? I mean the recommend PSU for the RTX 3060 is 650W...I though I would need exact same 650W to run it, 550W seem way too low
