Hello everyone i hope y'all doing okey

I have an enquiry regarding a gpu I'm going to buy off a friend

He's selling a 3070 ti, he claims that he used it for 3 months ( I don't think he's lying but there is a possibility ), my question is if he used it for 1 year or maybe 1.5 year does that affect its performance at all? I want to buy it used because I will save like $200

if it doesn't affect the performance then do you suggest me to buy it because it's a good deal ? + it's off a friend so

thanks for answering

As long as the fans aren't gummed up, the vents aren't clogged with debris, and the card hasn't been abused or damaged in some way it should work fine.

If you go to his house to buy it, have him demonstrate the card to you running some game or benchmark (ie 3DMark) to make sure it works before you buy it.

I used an RTX 2060S for 3 years prior to upgrading to my RTX 3080 this week. I never noticed a decrease in performance. In fact it's still running like a champ, I put it into my wife's rig. I'd say as long as he's a trusted friend, it'd be a good deal. I wouldn't buy used off ebay or something, but a friend, don't see why not.

As pointed out above, so long as he took care of it. Check it out. Check fans, blast some air through it to clean it up and you'll be right as rain.

if he's a friend of yours; plug it in and see how it runs. Put it to the test on a few games and see what it does. Did he overclock it or leave it stock?

How to check? can you give me a link, please!

Test Your Graphics Card Stability With Furmark (makeuseof.com)

Something like this, then compare the score of the GPU to new ones online. If yours scores considerably lower, theres causes for concern. May i ask how much youre paying for the card?

He left it stock.

that's good news. If he's a friend maybe he'll hang out while you test it on your rig. I'd jump on it personally, but I'm an optimist at times lol
