I really wouldn't really say to get that cpu since there's not really a reason for a k series cpu on a b660 board, a 12700f is the better choice

It's also odd to buy used ram, since its unlikely to fail, it's also more expensive than new ram

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Cf98TW/gskill-ripjaws-v-series-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-f4-3200c16d-16gvkb

And  there are cheaper kits than this one.

I'd also look at getting the peerless assassin for usually ~15 dollars more and it'll do a better job than then the freezer 7

You need to rethink the hardware you want to put together here. The H17 case is extremely closed off for just a gaming PC, let alone a CPU that draws 200W under load + a GPU that takes up half the case; An appropriate air cooler for that chip can't even fit in this case. If you put the Freezer 7 on a 12700K in the H17, your chip would likely die from overheating within minutes. Even the beefiest air coolers like an AK620 or NH-U12A struggle to keep a 12700K under control on open test benches. If you want anything remotely close to the CPU horsepower you want here, a new case is necessary. From there your budget is narrowed a bit, but in all seriousness, you can not combine this current parts list and have a functioning computer. Apologies if this came off slightly aggressive - hopefully my point is as clear as possible.

If you want something that's similarly appropriate for a work environment, Fractal just released their Focus 2 line of cases that have very decent airflow without anything gamery. You can salvage a fan from your existing case to throw in the back & I'm willing to bet you'd have as much as 15°C of extra thermal headroom going forward. Sticking with the H17 is going to limit your CPU prowess very sharply.

The GPu takes up a of space but that's not really a problem.  An air cooler will fit, what are you on about?  The H17 is not a very open case, but literally anything with a more open front panel would suffice.  The versa h18 is a better option for at price point, as it's usually also about $45 and has meshier front.  Die from overheating?  In what universe?  A freezer 7 is too small for the 12700k, but the AK620 does not struggle, the chip gets hot on torture test as expected (which is OK, that's what torture test s do, as the chips are rated to run at up to 105c) but for gaming it'll be more than suitable.  Plenty of people use it for that.  OEMs use far worse coolers for these chips and still get OK numbers, so a good cooler like the ak620 with 2 radiators and 12 heatpipes would more than suffice.

Probably just because it's only $300, which is less than the 12700f unless someone is liquidating them.  With a CPU there is no risk buying used.  K-series, even on b660, will still boost to 5GHz on lead cores.

OP, if you already you can return the H17 do so, but you can try using it if need be.   You're just gonna have to run your intake fans at full speed to get enough air in there, and the GPU fans are gonna be a little loud in game..  If you can return it, just make sure you pick something with a more open frontal intake next time, as the solid panel is too restrictive on a mATX case.  If you want a solid panel, you need a bigger case, if you want mATX, just get something with a more open frontal intake.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

I said appropriate air coolers, i.e. the AK620 or NH-U12A can't fit in the H17. I also believe we are in the universe where a dual heat pipe cooler + a nearly sealed case + a 200W processor = more than 105°C very very quickly. I guess my definition of "control" is a bit more harsh than others, but running a chip at 90°C still doesn't sound very fun if I had to stay in a room with that kind of heat for my job. Keep in mind we aren't working with excellent airflow options here either, so "more than suffice" might be pushing it.

I read some of the replies as well as the one attached below and I have come to the conclusion that I will angle grind and drill some holes in the case to create airflow. I will also chose a different cooler, thanks for all the help!

Long, vertical slits are a lot easier and will look better.
