Recently changed my thermal pads and paste TWICE and still same result. Very low temps in normal usage and shooting up to 90c limit in games. As soon as I close the game the temps drop down by half almost instantly.

I measured the original pads being 1mm, so the replacement were identical.

Very lost on what to do now. I may try 0.5mm and see how that goes. Any suggestions on what this problem could be?

The GPU: Gigabyte Aorus 3060TI Elite

If temps are way to high under load compared to what they were before, then either uneven mounting pressure, or there are more than just 1mm thick pads that you may have inadvertantly replaced with thicker.

90c on the die?

The temp instantly dropping is normal, that is exactly what you would expect to happen. But 90c in game is very high… what’s the airflow situation in huge case look like?

I compared and measured the pads side by side. Basically identical. Iv contacted Gigabyte for official sizes and hopefully softness aswell and see if they will get back.
