When playing Skyrim, the game randomly freezes up, screen goes black, screen goes back to game, game unfreezes. I can't figure out what's doing this. I have 105 mods installed, but it does this regardless of there being mods or not.

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix?

Try using http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305

Other possible issues could be overheating of you graphics card so check the temps with gpu-z and while your at it check you other system temps as well.

Running our of VRAM may be it especially with a 550ti which I assume has 1gb of VRAM

1GB of VRAM is more than enough for a stock Skyrim.

I the beta version of SKSE has this built in, you just need to create a single script, but doesn't change the fact it still does the black screen thing.
