Hello, so here is my issue I can not solve for the moment..

I got a laptop that did not boot anymore (power is on, screen turns on, after +/- 1min an error message appears that says: some windows file could not laod). I opened the laptop and removed the nvme drive from the board to check the drive itself on an other system. Put the drive in an usb enclosure and attempted to access the drive. when i put the usb enclosure with the drive into my test system de disk shows up in task manager with 100% active time and no reads or writes.

the partitions on the disk show up in explorer, but clicking them freezes the system.

does any one has an idea on how to get into the drive, so i can try and recover some of the data that is on the disk?

edit: i have recovery software to recover lost files, would it be safe to format the drive and recover the files that way? i used to do that trick with HDD drives....

thx in advance

I can't speak for the recovery element, usually i just burn it all (anything too important is stored on cloud or backed up). I would definitely use cmd and diskmgmt if it's giving you problems through the gui.

make sure to triple check the drives you are selecting, i wiped a poor innocent WD black because i wasn't paying attention.
