How should I do it most effectively?

I have 1x M.2 slot in laptop that is currently occupied, and 1x M.2 external reader.

I would just copy the drive, but the new ssd doesn't get recognized in the external m.2 enclosure, so I can't initialize the drive or anything. User error, ignore that part. Disk is initalized with GPT.

So do I have to create a windows image backup, then install windows on the new ssd, and then "restore from system image"?

Is there a better way?

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Update, managed to make it work, just had to wait for a while, it is initialized to GPT now.

How is the best way to clone it? Via windows disk image, or should I take the ssd out, connect via external enclosure to desktop, read it, and then swap the ssd in the enclosure to the new one and then write to that?

I'll try the Macrium software

I only see your reply if you @ me.

I've never used windows built in tools to transition data but based on the third party software that I have used, and the fact that they seem to label their cloning system as a "backup," I'd say this is worth a try

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.
