Synergy going subscription based?

This came in my Email from Synergy. It looks like Synergy is going subscription based. I don't know if this is new.

We as early adopters aren't affected at all.

 

But new customers have a limited maintanance time as it seems now. So they can keep using their license, but synergy only provides maintanance for a certain time, unless you pay more. I think this is a good model.

I though you were talking about Synergy the software KVM program but now i'm not sure and you didn't specify. What specifically are you talking about?

Sorry for including, but yes I am talking about the software KVM.

This is hilarious. In the end of 2017, they released Synergy 2. Early Adopters back then got a heavy discount on what was supposed to be this amazing new version. I bought that release for $5 and it was so unstable and terrible that it turned me off synergy completely. Many people had issues with it. Fixes were promised for months but after a while v2 was just dropped. They went back to v1 and have been on that ever since. The cash-grab was so obvious then and the fact that they are now also working on a v3 which will probably need another new license once it comes out, all together just screams cash grabs.
