Powerline for gaming/streaming

Nacamino

Hi everyone!
I hope you are well. I am moving to a new flatshare, and I won't be able to install a cable from the router to my room. Among the options, the only one that seems viable (besides relying on wifi) would be using Powerlines adaptors. Would this be good enough for gamin and/or Twitch streaming?
Also, is there any particular model that you would recommend? (I am living in the UK)
Thanks!
N

A powerline adapter is pretty good, i use on myself and i get up to 200 mbps. Th problem with powerline adaptors is that they are good if they are on the same  circuit, if they are not, the performance will be affected.

Now to what i recommend, how fast is your ethernet connection? Do you want gigabit or 100?

No, it most definitely is not as good as wired.  There's a multitude of posts on this forum about it performing worse than WiFi.

In absolutely ideal scenarios (good home wiring and on the same circuit, over a short distance) it might be good enough and better than WiFi, but there are no guarantees.  Nothing is as good as wired ethernet.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

True that, I guess my wiring was lucky
