New to overclocking. Need help.

I have been researching how to OC. I have a fx-6300 and asus m5a97 r2.0 with Hyper evo 212. I want to OC my CPU to a safe 4.3 ghz. If anybody has this combo, any tips before i do this? My power supply is the Corsair Builder series CX 600w

AMD FX Processors overclock very easily and with the right cooler, like the Hyper 212 EVO, they stay nice and cool. This guide explains very well how to overclock the FX-6300 to 4.3Ghz on an ASUS M5A97 Motherboard.

Make sure your mobo is not the "LE" version.

It would be nice to set your CPU fan speed to 50-60%, something that you are comfortable running 24/7

Also, I am not familiar with overclocking AMDs, but for Intel, 1.3 is about the highest voltage I would be safe going up to for a safe 24/7 OC.

 

Lastly, every chip is different and your results may vary.  You could get lucky with the silicon lottery, or you could get screwed.  Keep expectations in check.
