I'm finding it very difficult to find what recording equipment I should use for my guitar. Any help?

What people usually do is just put a mic in front of your amp and record that.

That seems like it would have a lot of quality degradation.

well if you get a good setup, not really. Plus, your amp has a certain sound to it, so one of those pre-amps that plug right into PCs would sound different, making it harder to record what you actually want to record.

Any good XLR to USB converters for the E906?

The Blue Icicle is a very simple plug and play thing and if you want something a bit more sophisticated, Focusrite Scarlett will give you more control. That is pretty much all I know though .

NannerBeans lists the Blue Icicle and Focurite Scarlett, those are alright. There is a Shure bundle on the SM57 plus a XLR to USB converter. http://www.amazon.com/Shure-SM57-X2U-Cardioid-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B001PPPWI4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1398423977&sr=8-8&keywords=shure+sm57

You can also plug your 1/4 inch guitar cable directly in some Audio Interfaces like the Scarlett 2i2.

You're then paying 90 dollars for the XLR to USB converter. For that price, I'd rather step it up to a proper Audio Interface so you'll have both options, recording directly and recording the amp.
